Virgin Magnetic Material* is a remix project by Shai Vardi, a musician and artist based in Tel Aviv. In this project Shai takes some of his favorite classics and completely reconstructs them from scratch, imprinting them with his unique signature sound. With influences that vary from rock, funk, hip-hop, dubstep, minimal techno, deep house and disco to classical music and jazz, Shai manages to create a common thread between the unusual selections.

Starting to play the piano at the age of 4, Shai evolved to a multi-instrument musician playing guitar, bass guitar and drums, producing and composing. He created music for various films and TV shows and has previously a DJ and music editor in a leading radio station, having his own daily alternative show.

Virgin Magnetic Material on their Mixtape: “Each time I create a mixtape I find myself producing several new remixes that would fit the narrative. Same in this case, I started with a new remix of the Cure’s Fascination Street and everything quite fell into place from there…”
